Tip 1: Find a study group!
Sitting down with a group of people who are learning the same things as you is a great way to go over confusing class material or prepare for a big test. Look to team up with others who are positive, motivated, focused, kind, generous and hard working. You can quiz each other, reteach material, and make sure that everyone is on the same page. After all, teaching someone else is the best way to learn!
Tip 2: Manage Your Study Space!
Create a conducive studying environment by finding a place that will maximize your productivity. Look for places away from distractions such as the television or people talking. Whether it is your local library or just a desk in your bedroom, set aside a study space that you’ll want to spend time in. Ensure you have all the stationary, notebooks, etc. that you will need and that the lighting is suitable. Get a comfortable chair and tidy your desk daily. Remove all distractions from the room and use earplugs to block out noise if necessary.
Tip 3: Prepare For Class!
Preparing for class is something every student should do! As Benjamin Franklin once said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Every night, think about the classes that you will be having the next day in school. Then take a few minutes to look over the textbook and your notes so that you will be familiar with what your teacher will be covering the next day. In addition, do a quick recap of the previous topic, because the new topic will most likely build on what was already learned. This “getting prepared process” won’t take you very long but will pay off for you in the long run!
